ALOE HAIR ELIXIR: DIY LEAVE-IN CONDITIONER

Writer's picture: Symone GradySymone Grady

Your skin is not the only thing that needs protection from the sun's wrath. Unless you plan on wearing a hat all summer long, you must equip your tresses with the moisture and vitamins that it needs to maintain it's strength and shine.

Rather than purchasing a bottle of leave-in conditioner, loaded with ingredients that I can't even pronounce, I decided to test out a few DIY leave-in conditioners and this is by far the easiest to make and yields the most benefits.

Don't worry, this leave-in conditioner is perfect for all hair types and lengths to give your hair added moisture.

This recipe uses two very nutrient rich ingredients, coconut oil and aloe vera. These ingredients are scientifically proven to nourish hair and skin. Checkout all the health benefits of aloe vera and coconut oil.

Supplies:

  • 1/4 cup 100% aloe vera gel - preferably from an aloe vera leaf

  • 1/2 cup water

  • 5 drops essential oil- select your favorite scent, I used peppermint.

  • 1 tb 100% coconut oil

  • 1 spray bottle

Directions:

  • Melt coconut oil.

  • Mix all ingredients together and transfer to a spray bottle.

  • Spritz your hair with the mixture on days will you be in prolonged exposure to the sun.

Checkout the video below to observe how to properly cut an aloe vera leaf.

The is by far one of my favorite leave-in conditioners to use! It adds shine and leaves my hair feeling so soft. Give it a try and tell me what you think!
